Independence Day 2008

What a fun day! Caleb and Kenn got their hair cut (mom's 1st time cutting Caleb's herself), Caleb got to play outside in the water some more, and we all went to Milburn Park for the 4th of July Celebration that the City of Cedar Park put on. Caleb tried cotton candy for the 1st time and loved it, and he also got to see fireworks for the 1st time. Luckily, he loved those, too. He kept yelling "Boom! Boom!" while they were going off, and "Colors!!!". We all had a fun time, even though it was a VERY late night for Caleb (bedtime at 10:30, yikes!), but it was a lot of fun to celebrate our nation's independence as a family. And the fireworks were amazing!

Trip to Utah May/June 2008

We took a family vacation to Utah to see Uncle Karl come home from his mission to Virginia. It was fantastic! It was so fun to see Karl, and he got to meet Caleb (of course, they adored each other). Kenn and I even got a night away from the little one, at the Castle Creek Inn in Sandy. We went to campus, down to Gunnison to visit Grandma Nielsen, saw a bunch of friends, and spent a lot of time with the fam. All in all, it was a great trip!

Old House on Bristol Way

Our 1st Thanksgiving at Home!

This year, due to a lack of financial elasticity, we spent Thanksgiving on our own, in our own house. Amy cooked a TON of different things, and our dear friends Jon and Carrie Marsh came over with their son, Alex, and spent the day. We had a great spread of food, and Carrie made the table look gorgeous, and everything was made from scratch to allow for Caleb-safe-ness. We had a lot of fun, and we had a LOT of food, and the turkey turned out wonderfully. We were so proud. :)

My hairdresser, April Skinner, runs a company called Almost Impatient Productions, and she wanted to take some pictures of Caleb sometime, and I was ok with that. So he had his very first modeling gig. :) It went really well, and boy she got some cute pictures. I think Caleb might have even had some fun being the center of attention like that. :)

Caleb's 1st Haircut!

Well, we did it. We finally got sick and tired of Caleb being confused for a really cute little girl, and so I took him to get his hair cut on Saturday night, November 10th. We were back and forth about it for a few days--wanting him to clearly be a boy, but also not wanting to cut off his cute little curls that people always fussed over. But, his insane hairstyle upon waking from his afternoon nap sent me over the edge, the need for boyness won, and we went to a cool place called (no pun intended) Cool Cuts for Kids. Expensive, yes, but for the 1st haircut, TOTALLY worth it. He sat in a race car with a little steering wheel, watching Blue's Clues, and the lady blew bubbles halfway through and was fast and did a good job. And yes, I cried. Not a ton, but I definitely teared up when she made the first cut. He's not a baby anymore! He's a little boy! He looks adorable still, and he's clearly a boy, but it was definitely a bittersweet thing for mom to deal with. I miss my baby. :*(

Halloween 2007!!!

Halloween was so much more fun this year, what with Caleb being older and all. We took him to the tri-ward Trunk-or-Treat at the church and he had a lot of fun. He didn't want to walk around and continue getting candy, though--he just wanted to sit down every time he got another piece and take them out of his bucket and put them back in. It was fun, though, and daddy also took him Trick-or-Treating a little on our street. Mostly, though, he ran like crazy to the front door every time someone knocked or rang the bell. He LOVED seeing all the kids in their costumes, and all the parents and older girls went crazy over him in his little caveman costume. It was a lot of fun! Maybe next year we'll even get Kenn to dress up a little...maybe...

Utah Trip--Sept. 2007

The whole family went to Utah! It was great--we got to see lots of family, friends, and see how much bigger Caleb is than all our friends' kids. :) j/k We did have a really good time. We even got to go down to BYU campus and see how much things have changed in just a year and a half. It was a great trip, and boy do we miss everyone in Utah.

NI Halloween Party

National Instruments, where Kenn works, had a Halloween party for the little ones. It was a lot of fun. Amy had made Caleb a caveman costume and it was a HIT! Everyone said he looked so cute. We are so proud of the little caveman.

I've had this car since I was 14, she was my pride and joy and kept me from being too dorky in high school (and that's saying a lot). I sold it in February of 2007 on eBay. She will be missed.

Amy's Great Kitchen

We painted our kitchen a fantastic warm, golden yellow, and it looks great! I've got accent colors of blue and red to go with my "french" theme, and it turned out great.

Trip to Michigan

Caleb and Amy went to Michigan for a week and stayed with Amy's sister, Alissa, and her family. We had a great time, and Caleb even got to see sand and waves for the 1st time, at Lake Huron. He liked the sand more than the waves, but it made for some great pictures, and one tired baby. :) It was a fantastic trip all around, and hopefully we'll go again soon!

NI Company Picnic 4-14-07

National Instruments had their annual company picnic, and the day was really cold! We ended up keeping Caleb wrapped in a blanket most of the time, and our friends Jon and Carrie did the same thing with their little boy, Alex. We had fun, though, and it was nice to go to a big party like that.
