A note to Kennandamy.com RSS Readers

Kennandamy.com benefits from TIGHT integration from Blogger.com. I wrote some scripts that make the pages uploaded from blogger.com look as though they were hand written as part of the website.

One of these scripts parses the rss.xml file so that I can merge my entire site's rss into one feed. Blogger changed the format of this file and it broke my script. I have rewritten it and it is more robust than before.

I apologize for the duplicates in the RSS feed and the strange content. Should be fine from here on out. Thanks

Who's Calling Us?

This is how a conversation with my 2-year-old went today.

Amy--"Do you love your mama?"

Caleb--"Yeah."

Amy--"You love your daddy?"

Caleb--"Yeah."

Amy--"You love Beckett?"

Caleb--"Yeah."

Amy--"You love Grandma?"

Caleb--"Yeah."

Amy--"You love Uncle Karl?"

Caleb--"Yeah."

Amy--"You love Aunt Ali?"

Caleb--"Yeah."

Amy--"You love Jesus?"

Caleb--"Yeah."

(phone rings)

Caleb--::gasp:: "It's Jesus!"

Conversation about Beckett

Since Amy has been busy with the new baby and in the hospital (she's home now), I have had the opportunity to talk to many people about the new baby coming. The conversation goes something like this:

So the new baby came?
Yes he did, he's healthy and very large.
How large was he?
He holds the hospital record at 10lbs 14oz.
WOW, so it was a C-Section?
No it was natural, she did great.
She must have had an epidural then.
Amy can't stand the thought of needles in her spine, so no, no pain killers whatsoever in fact, she has had some motrin afterwards though.
She is a superhero/hero/crazy/baby-making machine/wonderwoman.

I've seriously had a conversation just like that with like 15 people. It's really funny. One guy I work with, who knows I'm a bit of a jokester just didn't believe me. I finally convinced him I was telling the truth. So this is my official statement, that he came without C-Section, without epidural, and that my wife is my hero too. She has always been amazing to me, so it's good to see others notice it as well.

Compare & Contrast #2/Coming Soon!!!

<<<-------- 9 months pregnant with Caleb (yes, actually ON my due date--he was 9 days over)
<<<---- 39 weeks and 3-ish days pregnant with Beckett.

We won't be making it to the due date this time around. As of this morning, I am measuring just under 45 centimeters (I was 41 last Thursday) and I was dilated to 6 cm already! So Kenn and I walked a LOT tonight, and if I don't go into labor somehow during the night, we'll almost definitely be going to the hospital tomorrow morning, where my doctor will be breaking my water for me. Joy. Hopefully this time, though, no Pitocin is needed. So sometime soon we'll be blogging again, with pictures of our brand-new baby boy! Can you believe how massive my stomach is? Crazy! And I hate my hair in this picture, but it's late and I'm tired and I'm not sure I care anymore. My stomach is too big for me to really care.

Compare and Contrast

This is Amy 8 months along when she was pregnant with Caleb.

I can't decide if I should now say "Wow" or "Ouch." I suppose either one works.

I Sew Did This Myself

This is the baby quilt that I made for my friend Claudia in Michigan. She's due to have her 1st, a girl, in about 3 or 4 weeks (maybe sooner--I guess Elsa is a rather long baby). At any rate, though, I'm really happy with how the quilt turned out. It's only the 2nd quilt I've done, and the 1st one was a rag quilt, so I'm quite proud of myself. And yes, normally my blog posts are a little wittier than this, but I'm 5 days away from my own due date, and I'm huge and tired and I can't think. So there it is. Yay me.

Steve Jobs is looking more and more like Mr. Burns

As Apple released their new iPod Nanos, Touch's and Classics with their "Genius" features, I couldn't help but think of this similarity between him and Mr. Burns.

He's looking thinner and richer all the time. Albeit the new iPods, as usual, look pretty cool.

I do like the idea of an accelermoter built in to the iPod. It'll make for some interesting hacking that will certainly occur.

The Difference Having a Kid Makes

This is our family room BEFORE Caleb was born, about 4 weeks before, actually.

THIS is the same family room, 2 years and 3 months later.

Me personally, well, I like a little color in my life. Thank you, Caleb, for the past 27 months of glorious color and mayhem. Hopefully your brother brings the same joy into our house as you have. :)
