So at our house (much to my husband's dismay and leading him to call me 'Scrooge') we do NOT put up Christmas decorations, listen to Christmas music, or watch Christmas movies until the day AFTER Thanksgiving. It's all I ask. I won't even allow Christmas movies after Thanksgiving dinner. I'm not sure why I'm this way, but I am. I need things kept separate and distinct. Perhaps it's yet another example of my OCD tendencies. :)
But hey, once we DO put up Christmas...we put UP Christmas. :)
Our tree and mantle, complete with stockings 'hung with care'
And this year I got sucked into a crafty project by my friend Tiffanie. We made activity advent calendars out of matchboxes, and each day's box has a different activity for us to do. You also flip the boxes over as you do them, so by Christmas it says 'Merry Christmas One & All!'
And to kick things off on December 1st, our first activity was to make a Christmas paper chain, to help the boys count down the days. The proper 'link removal' pattern was quickly established by Caleb (he removes the red ones, Beckett does the green).
And NOW I'm ready for Christmas. :D

We don't put our Christmas stuff up until the day after Thanksgiving, either. I don't understand why people want all the Christmas stuff up so early... :)
What kind of activities are in your advent calendar? Like crafty activities? Are they linked to Christmas in any way - like teaching the meaning of different Christmas traditions or symbols? I want to make an advent calendar that has some relationship to either the Christmas story or the true meaning of Christmas... but they're hard to find... at least they have been so far...
Cute cute!! We totally wait until after Thanksgiving too- some years we even waited until after Alex's b-day, Nov 28th. That matchbox thing is so cute! And love your tree, it is beautiful
