Mother's Day 2010--Part 2

So after church, we got lunch ready for all and sent the kids off for nap/quiet time. I read the paper and looked at ads and then Kenn and I watched some 30 Rock and this really cool movie called "Bottle Shock," which is about back in the 70's when the California vineyards started to make a global impression. Really cool show. And then once the kids were up, we decided to put in another movie and make some popcorn, so here is Kenn making popcorn with Caleb.

Caleb was excited, I promise; don't let the picture fool you. :)

Whilst that was going on, Beckett decided to sit down with a book and wait.

Then after "Wall-e" was over, Kenn made dinner! It was awesome! I love not having to cook, and this was even better because his pancakes were AMAZING. He said he mixed the batter really well and then let it rest, and then he mixed it like crazy again.

Kenn: "Know where I learned about that?"

Amy: "From the corn muffins because the package says to do that?"

Kenn: "Well, yah, that, too, but really I got it from 'This Old House,' because that's what they do with cement and mortar."

I laughed out loud at that. Leave it to my husband to apply construction tips to making pancakes. But I can't knock it, because they turned out heavenly. They were so fluffy, and you couldn't even tell they were made with soy milk and egg replacer! I love my husband!

See said goodness here. :)
Beckett and Caleb were having fun chowing down on their pancakes and bacon. Yummm.

All in all, it's been a great day. I have felt so relaxed and un-responsible for everything, and it's awesome to feel that way. I can't wait to do it again sometime (hint, hint Kenn).

And no, I didn't get a picture of me with my boys, but it's ok. I'm sure I'll be in a picture with them someday, when Kenn learns to be behind the camera once in a while (again, hint, hint Kenn). :D

Happy Mother's Day to my mama and Kenn's mama and Kenn's AMAZING Grandma Nielsen and my sister and Kenn's sister and sisters-in-law and all our aunts and cousins and friends and all the fantastic women we know. Our lives are blessed because of you. :)

Popeye's Pride (again) and the diaper box

True story--I had some fresh spinach from the garden, and Beckett indicated that he might enjoy some leafy goodness. He ate it, too. I think he thought it was fun.

And I love, and am also confused by, the fact that Caleb looks oh-so-grown-up while sitting in an empty DIAPER box. I can't decide if that's ironic or an oxy-moron.

i love to see the temple...

Tiffanie, Candace, and I spent a Saturday last month getting a spiritual lift. We drove down to San Antonio to go to the Temple there, and it was fabulous. :) I was definitely in need of some proper perspective at that point in time, and there is no better place to get reminded of priorities than the temple.

Afterwards, we went to Olive Garden for their yummy soup, salad, and breadsticks lunch (TOTALLY worth it, especially for the gnocchi soup). We had some fun chat-time and enjoyed having a break from our kids. It was an AWESOME day, and with any luck we'll do it again.

Thanks, ladies. :)

green machine

I realized today (like I did last week, and the week before) that it's been a while since I posted any garden pictures. Well, here they are, for your viewing (or ignoring) pleasure.

It's going swimmingly. :)

Zucchini

Broccoli

Yellow Squash

Grape tomatoes!

Green pepper, that green thing right in the middle. :)

The peas have just about run their course, so I'll probably pull those up pretty soon, but other plants are JUST starting to take off. The green beans, pumpkin, and peppers haven't produced yet, but they're getting really big. And just last week, I picked our first carrots!

Growing a garden is so cool. I feel all eco-friendly. :)

under-where?

This is what happens when you tell a 3 1/2-year-old boy to take off his pajamas and put on his clothes, and then you leave the room.

At least he put the CLEAN ones on his head. It definitely could've been worse.

Mother's Day 2010--Part 1

Today has been a good day. :) Kenn got the boys all ready for church, and even made breakfast for ME (which is always fantastic), and then at church a 'first' happened.

It was Caleb's 1st time going up onto the stand with the rest of the Primary kids to sing. :*)

Honestly, I could not even tell you what the song was, because Caleb went up there and stood behind the podium so that half of his face was hidden by the requisite box of tissues, and then proceeded to entertain Kenn and I. :)

He would look around the chapel for a second and then look at us, and once he saw us he would stand up on his tip-toes to see over the tissue box, and then give us a HUGE grin, as though to say, "Hey, I'm up here, and you SEE me up here, and I'm not in trouble!"

HI-LAR-I-OUS.

Kenn said, "He's a total ham, and he gets it from you."

I couldn't agree more.

And no, he didn't actually sing,

but I never needed him to. :)
