Happy 9 Months, Beckett!!!

I can't believe my baby boy is 9 months old today!

This fabulous picture was taken this afternoon by our dear friend, Kristen, who has come to stay with us for the summer.

I see a lot of other people do this on their blogs, so I'm going to do it, too:

At 9 months old, Beckett...

-smiles, laughs, babbles, says "ma ma ma ma" and "da da da;"

-doesn't crawl yet, but slithers and rolls ALL OVER the floor;

-can push his butt WAY up in the air in a push-up;

-has his bottom 2 front teeth, and should have his top 2 front teeth in the next week;

-is still a mama's boy;

-LOVES food of any kind, especially Cheerios,
and shoves as many as he can in his mouth at once;

-still puts himself to sleep, and sleeps about 12 hours straight each night;

-puts everything possible in his mouth, even if it doesn't quite fit;

-makes us all smile and laugh on a daily basis;

-loves to bang toys together, and watch his older brother in motion;

-is NOT allergic to any foods! Hooray!;

-gets visibly excited when he sees his Farm Animal book or the Ladybug book, or mom;

-prefers standing to sitting;

-is basically the cutest kid on the planet, in every sense of the word. He's just so happy! And smiley!

We LOVE our Beckett-Man. :)

"Could it be...Satan?"

THIS RIGHT HERE

is the devil.

At least, according to my children.

No, they've never spoken that sentence aloud (thank goodness), but the screams of terror that come from their mouths when the dreaded bulb syringe is in view are enough to let me in on their otherwise secret thoughts.

Beckett doesn't even have to actually see it to start screaming, you just have to sit him up on his changing pad and get out a wipe. That's enough for him to freak out right there.

And Caleb, lucky kid, is old enough to just wipe/blow his nose, but he put up a fight just like his brother does now.

I guess I should mention that it's a tool of terror for my husband as well; he refuses to be the one to use it on our kids.

Lucky me. :P

An apple a day keeps the doctor away, right?

But I think it only really works if the apple in question is not plastic. And also, not shoved into a mouth that can't close around it.
But good effort, there, Beckett. Way to aim for the healthy snacks.

A Mother's Dilemma

This is my Beckett, and his normal happy face.

And this is me and my Beckett together.

But he didn't look like this today. Oh no, sir, he was NOT his happy self at all. I'm pretty sure it's because of teething, specifically his top front teeth, but he had a low-grade fever, and a runny noise, and was very sad and cranky most of today.

This is the part of infancy that I struggle with. Beckett sleeps great, all night, puts himself to sleep, and has been doing so for months. But when the teething starts, I'm so tempted to screw it all up. When they lay in their cribs and cry and cry, and I know it's because they hurt and the Motrin just isn't helping, it's all I can do not to go in and rock them the whole night.

I caved briefly tonight, although I told myself it was to make sure his fever had gone down.

But it sure was nice to hold him, and feel him relax in my arms.
I'll be happy once HE is happy again, although I might miss how much he wants to be held.

Beckett is trying to figure out crawling, but...

It just ends up looking like this.
