Mommy Moment

Tonight I had one of those experiences that makes me so thankful to be a mother, that makes me appreciate my children, and my husband, and that makes me think that Kenn and I might actually be doing a decent job as parents.

After taking the kids to the Cedar Park Heritage Festival, and then to Carl's Jr. for dinner, we came home, bathed the boys, got them in jammies, and read scriptures and said prayers. Caleb even picked up his toys without pitching a fit the whole time.

I got Beckett down while Kenn took care of Caleb, and as I was leaving Beckett's room, I stopped at the top of the stairs and looked into Caleb's, where Kenn and Caleb were lounging on the bed together. They had just finished reading a story, and what made me stop was them singing "Nearer, My God to Thee," together. Now, Caleb has no sense of notes or keys yet, but to hear his sweet little voice singing along with Kenn's, and to hear him actually singing the right words, I realized how much he listens to what we say and sing to him, and I'm so grateful that we seem to be at least singing the right things. It was probably the most beautiful version I've ever heard of that hymn.

It made the day perfect.
